Among these top 10 customers, Japan overtook South Korea in 2018 as the number one importer of pineapples shipped by the Philippines.
The fastest-growing top markets for pineapples from the Philippines from 2014 to 2018 were Hong Kong (up 301%), New Zealand (up 243.9%), China (up 230.2%), Japan (up 23.6%) then Iran (up 20.4%).
Three top importers cut back on their consumption of Filipino pineapples over the 5-year period namely Singapore (down -87.9%), Saudi Arabia (down -41.7%) and Taiwan (down -39.8%).
The average gain in the international sales of pineapples from the Philippines was 30% encompassing all 27 countries to which Filipino pineapples were exported from 2014 to 2018.
